Melbourne native and General Manager at Chapel Street, Shawn Uldridge, always dreamed of bringing a slice of Australia to Chicago. With a passion for sharing the charm of Aussie hospitality, he began by opening the Publishing House B&B, a space filled with Aussie influence, followed by the Press Room wine bar, both located in Chicago’s West Loop. Alongside a host of fellow Australians, he set out to create a unique experience that blends the warmth of Australian culture with the heart of the city.

Our cafe was born from one simple mission: to bring an authentic taste of Australian hospitality to our community. Inspired by the warmth and charm of Aussie culture, we’ve created a space where you can enjoy freshly roasted coffee, indulge in mouth-watering breakfasts, and savor delicious baked goods—each crafted with care and quality. From classic Aussie breakfast favorites like our Full Australian Breakfast and Brekkie Sando to house-made pastries such as Hot Jam Donuts and Croissants, we focus on serving food that’s both comforting and elevated.

But it doesn’t stop there—our cafe also offers a journey into Australian wines, available at the bar for those eager to explore something new. Whether you're here for a casual catch-up over coffee, a hearty meal, or a relaxed evening sipping wine, we’re excited to share a slice of Australia with you, one sip and bite at a time.

Named after Australia’s iconic Chapel Street, our cafe pays tribute to one of Melbourne’s most vibrant streets, renowned for its unique blend of culture, fashion, and dining. Chapel Street has long been a hub of creativity and community—values we bring to our cafe every day.
